The Story So Far

In 2008 Asprey Homes completed the purchase of its largest strategic project to date at Crown Lane in Bromley, Kent. Set among 24 acres together with a substantial area of public open space, the development will provide care facilities, a medical centre, and around 800 new homes including in excess of 500 private two and three bedroom family houses and one and two bedroom apartments. The project also includes an element of shared ownership accommodation.

Once outline planning consent was approved, Asprey Homes worked in conjunction with Bromley Council to fulfill its housing requirements with a particular focus on ensuring that new accommodation for the elderly was included in the form of two extra care housing centres comprising individual apartments for the over 55 age group. The first phase of the development has now been completed by Asprey Homes and 28 of the homes are now occupied.

Earlier this year Asprey Homes formed a relationship with a joint venture partner to work with on selected future phases of development where 260 properties have just commenced production.

With the substantial infrastructure for future phases now underway, marketing for the next phase of new homes will commence in the early part of summer 2011. Land Director Elliott Bance of Asprey Homes comments: "The Bromley Common Project is designed to the highest quality and has been commended for its architectural style by the local authority. Our approach to the aesthetics of the site was to ensure that no difference can be seen between the affordable phases, accessed from Turpington Lane and the private phases at Crown Lane. The result can be seen in the completed street scene which uses a variety of materials including slate roofs with interesting roof lines and pitches, rural brickwork and weather boarded elevations with Juliet balconies set within landscaped grounds.

This year, we have completed the production of over 130 dwellings across a number of developments and sales for next year are already ahead of target.
